Irish fight to the end but fall short in D4 State Championship Game.

Ursuline and Clinton Massie matched up this morning in the D4 State Championship at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Clinton took the lead early on a Vanhoose 3 yard touchdown run.  Massie took 10 min off the first quarter clock by running the ball the entire first drive.

Ursuline got their first shot and didn’t waste any time as Demarcus McElroy rushed in from 4 yards out tying it at 7 to end the first quarter.

To start the second quarter, Ursuline coach Dan Reardon elected to do an onside kick and the Irish recovered at the Falcons 40 and 2 plays later McElroy exploded on a 34 yard touchdown run giving the Irish a 14-7 lead.   Later in the quarter Shannon found Irving for a 39 yard touchdown pass making it 21-7 @ Half.

Ursuline, coming out of the third quarter, exploded with a Shannon TD pass to Boyd from 26 yards out making it 28-7 and it was all Clinton Massie after that as they scored 22 unanswered to win the D4 State Championship 29-28.

Ursuline finishes the season 11-4
