Potter field to change to turf

East Liverpool City Schools is excited to announce that plans are underway to upgrade the historic 1928 Patterson Field from grass to synthetic turf. Renovations upgrades also include wheelchair accessibility, new perimeter fencing around the playing surface, upgraded walkways, camera systems, and security and upgrades to our beloved mascot of the Potter Pete kiln.

“Not only will student-athletes benefit from this improvement but many student and community groups will also be able to utilize the facility,” said Jonathan Ludwig, ELCSD Superintendent.

The synthetic field will offer many pros such as community access 24-7, no closing of the field due to rain, venue for school/community/recreation department activities, competition hosting, the ability to offer increased interscholastic activities to include football, girls/boys soccer, and marching band. The synthetic turf surface will allow Patterson Field to host three times as many events.

Construction is set to begin in mid-May and is expected to be complete at the end of July 2022.
